Are you looking for an outlet to let your musical talent loose? Maybe you're seeking a way to challenge yourself vocally? Or meet new people that share a love of singing and classical music?
Consider becoming a member of our historic chorale where you will get to sing your heart out alongside some fun and talented individuals. The Waukesha Choral Union takes pride in its commitment to quality and classical entertainment. We are also fully embedded in the community through partnerships and music education. Come join in the camaraderie of the Choral Union. Male voices are especially welcomed!
Auditions are by appointment and will last approximately ten minutes. You may prepare a piece of music in advance, or choose something to sing that evening. Simple site reading, singing a part to a simple tune and singing scales are involved. An accompanist will be available. The process is straightforward and laid back.
Auditions are typically held in August and January
Please contact our Membership Chair: email@example.com or 262-238-3454 to put your name in to be contacted regarding auditions. With COVID 19, it is still a fluid situation, please reach out for more information.
What to Expect if Selected to Sing with Us
Singers participating in the Choral Union are asked to pay a minimal semester membership fee of $50 for new members and $75 for returning members. Members are asked to match their dues each semester by ticket & ad sales, direct donations, fundraiser support, Committee participation, etc. Women are asked to purchase a choral garment for concerts and men are asked to supply standard garments for concerts as a uniform.
We also ask that you aid in the promotions of concerts, help fill advertising space in the programs and generally, invest in the betterment of the Waukesha Choral Union. Our hope for all members is that you derive such joy from the WCU that these responsibilities feel less obligatory and more team spirited (or union spirited, if you will).
You will sign a Commitment Form annually which explains our expectations and responsibilities of members. We will provide greater detail upon your acceptance to this elite organization.
Should any financial aspect of member responsibilities present a financial hardship, singers may speak with a member of the WCU Board of Directors to explore their options.
Regular rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings, usually from 7:00-9:30PM, between early September to mid-December, and resume at the end of January and run through mid-May. Special performances require additional rehearsals and are announced at the start of the Season. We currently rehearse at All Saints Lutheran Church, 705 W. Tomlin Road in Wales due to COVID 19. We typically rehearse in the city of Waukesha.
