OUR 40th ANNIVERSARY SEASON

Sunrise

Saturday, May 3, 2013, 7:00 p.m.
St. William Parish, Waukesha

Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass is an ethereal work that employs the traditional mass texts but musically creates different moods and an aesthetic that reflects the movement titles.  1. The Spheres (Kyrie); 2. Sunrise (Gloria); 3. The City (Credo); 4. Identity & The Ground (Sanctus). Experience these four movements as we create an image of the cosmos from the echos of The Spheres to the assurance of terra firma in Identity and The Ground.  If you love lush harmonies and beautiful melodies, you must hear this performance!

A seasonal concert of traditional carols with a sing-along anchored by Vivaldi’s festive Gloria.  The bright and joyous character of the Gloria makes it a most appealing holiday favorite cloaked in baroque style with soloists and small orchestra.  Although this work was forgotten for hundreds of years, it was resurrected in its original form only some 60 years ago.  Join us to sing, listen, and rejoice.

Light Eternal

Saturday, October 26, 2012, 7:30 p.m.
First United Methodist Church, Waukesha

A concert of contemplative songs about life and the life hereafter.  The main work will be Requiem by John Rutter. The Requiem, completed in 1985, utilizes texts from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Common Prayer.  Rutter as other composers Faure, Brahms and Durufle for example, has also made individual artistic choices when choosing text to set his requiem mass. Written in remembrance of his father, its musical language is serene and soulful speaking directly to the human heart.
