Putting

Community of Singers
|
From the Director:
The
picture in a
puzzle doesn’t become clear until all the pieces are put
together. In its 2009-10 season, “Putting Together A
Community Of Singers,” the Waukesha Choral Union continues a
long tradition of collaborating with other musicians and groups,
putting together pieces of the very colorful and diverse arts community
in which we live.
In October’s “Ah, Youth,” we share the
stage with Muskego and Waukesha
South High School choirs. “Magnificat,
Magnificat” in December assembles and explores several unique
treatments of the biblical text of Mary discovering she is carrying
Jesus, anchored by Vivaldi’s masterful setting. In March, you
become a piece of our puzzle, in the annual tradition of joining the
WCU, full orchestra, and soloists, onstage for Haydn’s
“Creation.”
May completes the big picture of our season’s puzzle, with a
rare presentation of Verdi’s
“Requiem,” performed in collaboration with Bel
Canto Chorus, Milwaukee Choristers, and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in
Oconomowoc’s beautiful, new Arts Center.
I invite you to take part in our season of exciting live music
performed in great venues by our community’s great ensembles.

From the President:
As President, as well as
a singing member of the Waukesha Choral Union, it is my honor and
privilege to welcome you to our 2009-2010 season, “Putting
Together a Community of Singers.” Collaborations with the
choirs of Muskego High School and Waukesha South High School, Bel Canto
Chorus, Milwaukee Choristers, and singers in our community at large,
are what make this season so special.
These concerts are made possible not only by the hard work and
dedication of the performers, but also by the support of the greater
Waukesha community. We gratefully acknowledge the support of
our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and all those who attend our
concerts. As an organization we strive to play a role in enhancing the
cultural life of our community, and it takes the efforts of all of
these people, like pieces in a puzzle, to make it possible.
We hope that you will invite friends, family, and neighbors to
experience all the incredible performances in this 2009 –
2010 season.
