About the Choral Union

Sing With Us

The Waukesha Choral Union derives its strength and quality from its members’ passion for singing.  Auditions are held for new voices interested in learning new works, meeting new people, and making a commitment to our organization.

Audition Process:

When you arrive for your audition, a member of the Choral Union will greet you and answer any questions you may have.  Although not required, you are encouraged to sing a small section from a prepared piece of your own choosing. An accompanist will be provided for your prepared music, so please bring a second copy of the music for him/her to read from. The rest of the audition consists of vocal exercises and some simple sight-reading. Auditions generally last about 10 minutes.

Next Audition Date:

Due to poor weather conditions, auditions on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 were canceled. Singers interested in singing with the Choral Union for the Messiah or the entire Spring schedule should plan on attending practice on Tuesday, February 5th at 7:30pm in Room #113 of Waukesha South High School. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Audition Location:

Waukesha South High School
401 E. Roberta Avenue, Choir Room #113

Weekly Rehearsals:

Tuesday nights 7:30 PM  -  Waukesha South High School
Carroll College music majors, or Carroll College students singing in one of the Carroll vocal ensembles are EXEMPT from regular Waukesha Choral Union auditions.
Interested in auditioning for the Waukesha Choral Union or have questions?  Call the Waukesha Choral Union Hotline at (414) 297-9310 or email/phone our Membership Chair at (262) 574-1192.

Join us in singing Handel’s “Messiah”

Love to sing, but not sure you want to commit to singing the full semester with the Choral Union? Join us in singing Handel’s “Messiah”. There is no audition for this concert and everyone is welcome! Musical score will be provided. To do this you will need to attend rehearsals on the Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday before the performance. The schedule is as follows:
  • Sunday, March 2, 2:00 PM - Humphrey Memorial Chapel, Carroll College (This chapel is immediately adjacent to Shattuck Auditorium).
  • Tuesday, March 4, 7:30 PM - choir room, South High School
  • Saturday, March 8, 2:00 PM - dress rehearsal in Shattuck Auditorium
  • Sunday, March 9, 1:00 PM - call for the 2:00 PM Concert
Everyone is invited to make the spring semester the best ever; as these are the final two concerts that will be under the direction of Gregory Carpenter. This is a great opportunity to perform with one of the leaders in community music.

If you have questions or are interested in this opportunity, please contact membership chair Jo Bartkowiak at 262-574-1192 or via e-mail at membership@choralunion.org
