Michael Chapel is the director of choral activities and musical theatre at Brown Deer Middle/High School (grades 7-12) and is the fine arts/facilities coordinator for the School District of Brown Deer. Additionally, Mr. Chapel is the choir director and lead service accompanist at St. Peter’s UCC in Saukville. He is also the Choir Coordinator for the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Middle Level Honors Project and since 2001 has served as an adjudicator for solo/ensemble festivals and auditions sponsored by the WSMA. Mr. Chapel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music and a Master’s Degree in Music Education – with an emphasis on choral conducting.
This marks his second season as Artistic Director with WCU.
AARON MATHEWS, ACCOMPANIST
WCU warmly welcomes Aaron Mathews to our music family! He is a native of Dallas, TX, and currently serves as the Director of Liturgical Music at St. Charles Parish in Hartland, WI. He earned a Doctorate in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC), a Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy from Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA). He has served on the music faculty at Allen University (Columbia, SC) and Viterbo University (La Crosse, WI). He has over fifteen years of experience as a collaborative pianist for choral, chamber, and jazz ensembles and has performed across the United States, in South Africa, and in the Bahamas. He has directed music ministries in Catholic, Lutheran, and Unitarian Universalist congregations. He is a member of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the American Guild of Organists, the Music Teachers National Association, Inc., Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc., and the National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc.
